PLEA TO ALL SUPPORTERS of OLDHAM ROUGHYEDS, LOCAL BUSINESSES and  MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC in OLDHAM
2012 is going to be a pivotal year in the history of Oldham Roughyeds RLFC it is important that we secure promotion to the Championship and also ensure that the club meets requirements with regards to the development of Whitebank.
The club has put together a squad of players who have the capabilities of ensuring promotion to the Championship were we can look forward to welcoming and competing against the likes of Featherstone, Halifax, Leigh, Sheffield on a regular basis.
Whilst the club is doing all it can to raise the necessary funds to enable the development of Whitebank we too as supporters and local people help with this by becoming involved and supporting the club.
Oldham Roughyeds Supporters Association are supporting the club by sponsorship of players, subscription to the weekly lottery and purchasing equipment for the playing staff, ORSA are also backing the 'New Squad Strengthener Scheme' to help bring players to the club.
But there is so much more we can do therefore I am making a plea to not only supporters of the Roughyeds but to local businesses and the people of Oldham to support the developments at Oldham Roughyeds and keep professional rugby league in the town.
If you want more information about how you can support the Roughyeds or joining ORSA please contact ORSA secretary Paul Whalley.

SQUAD STRENGTHENER

ORSA Chair and lifelong Roughyeds fan Nigel Marland is looking to set up a Squad Strengthener scheme that would be used exclusively to bring players into the club to help the push into the Championship.

Nigel said that ‘Promotion to the Championship in 2012 is vital and with four promotion places available it is a great opportunity’. Whilst the Roughyeds coach Tony Benson has assembled a formidable squad with a spattering of young local talent aligned with some seasoned professionals, if more money was available the squad could be strengthened further not only at the beginning of the season but midway especially if we suffer the injuries we had last season.

2012 The Year of Promotion?
Supporters of Oldham Roughyeds know how important it is for the Roughyeds to gain promotion to the Championship at the end of the 2012 season.  It is important both for prestige and financially for the club that we are playing the likes of Featherstone, Halifax, Sheffield and Leigh in 2013.
The club has assembled a squad of players who I believe have the skills and potential to achieve promotion.
Unfortunately this will not be enough, the club needs to develop the facilities and ground sufficiently to meet the requirements for entry into the Championship, in order for this to happen the club has put together plans for development and I understand that they are looking at funding streams to enable the development of Whitebank to take place.
ORSA members are doing all they can to support the developments at Whitebank and have backed the Squad Strenghtener Scheme as well as purchasing water bottles and new skins for tackle bags  and sponsorship of Liam Gilchrist and Neil Rigby, ORSA will also be fundraising throughout the 2012.  But to succeed we need the support of not only Roughyed fans but the public of Oldham and local businesses to support initiatives that will help the development of Whitebank.
Therefore I am making a plea to local businesses, the people of Oldham and supporters to help in some way to help us achieve our dream of promotion, having a Team that can challenge the best outside of Super League and a ground we can all be proud of and a club that is providing facilities for the local community and the people of Oldham.
If you would like more information about becoming a Member of the Oldham Roughyeds Supporters Association (ORSA) or how you can support the Roughyeds through fundraising or volunteering please contact ORSA Secretary Paul Whalley on 07796631192 or Email: orsa@hotmail.co.uk.
